The oracles contain codified and mathematical information that express every aspect of the universe and by extension human life. They expressed the divine order of the universe itself. Therefore every event or occurrence personal or community wide can be expressed through these oracles. When we study the I Ching Oracle, we find different versions reflecting different periods of history. The oracles contain images and stories from that period. In that way the story and history become metaphors for interpretations for years to come... even thousands.
The Ifa / Afa/ Fa, Hakata, and other 4 tablet bone oracles of Africa do the same. Each culture may use the same core principles of 16 signs while simultaneously maintaining a separate identity through its own cultural stories, ancestors, history, and geology within the context of the oracle. Remembering the stories and symbols are how the diviner not only learns the oracle, but also becomes a community griot who keeps the oral tradition of the community. Over time, new stories are added as significant events are recorded and placed within one of the signs and in this way, it becomes a living and evolving oracle.
Essentially, the oracles were the first internet. Aside from direct spiritual insperiences, the oracles was the preferred technology for acquiring information and validation. Far greater than just a prediction tool, the oracles are equivalent to an indigenous information superhighway.
